Congrats on the Germam release! The Dreaming's been rather popular here, so I hope that the Germans like it as well. Oh, and do you know if the Free Comic Day is at American Kinokuniya stores as well?
Sure, the free comics book day is a global effort, methinks. :D
Oh phooey, I thought you were talking about Kinokuniya here in SF. I would have totally come! Someday soon I hope.
Too bad, eh... but I'll definately be coming to San Diego con in 2008, if all goes well with my next book. :D So stay tuned.
Ah, that will definitely be a motivation for me to go since I've never actually been to ComicCon.
Is the sydney kinokuniya pretty big? All the ones I've been to in the U.S. don't seem big enough to have any kind of panel, there's usually not enough room to walk around hardly. Thats pretty awsome though, so have fun!
Actually, the Sydney one IS quite big. One of the bigger bookstores in Sydney! With a cafe! :D
Yes, David has been reading the German Tpop message board and they are excited about it. Some people purchased the English edition and really enjoyed it.
Mary
Yay! Thanks for letting me know! :D I figure you're David's other half - nice to meet you. :D
I'm sorry to hear you've been sick :( But if it's any consolation (which I'm sure it's not, but humor me ^_^) I'm really looking forward to the Dreaming 3
Nah, I've recovered from the flu... just not the work I missed when I was sick. :P
Yeah, falling behind stinks. But I'm sure you'll be able to catch up in no time =)

Motorola Unlocking via IMEI is Here | (Link)
|
Excuse me people, just wondering if anyone has heard of this software which is available at motounlockuk.co.uk. Apparently you can unlock Motorola mobile phones simply using the IMEI number, cutting out the need for a USB cable to link your phone to your PC. Just used it with my razr v3 and a rokr e1, and it certainly works, but what do i do now with an unlocked phone? It's for sale at 5 Pounds (UK), and i was wondering whether anyone had used it before. Sorry if i've posted in the wrong section!. Please Help!!

Yeh, i used that Mototools software software, really easy to use. Just type in yer IMEI number, and then click 'generate unlock code'. There are loads of advantages to unlocking your phone. With an unlocked phone you can get cheaper calls and texts, no roaming charges when using abroad, and you will increase the value of yer phone by over 100%! Was a bit worried about tthe price, as a fiver for Motorola V3 unlock is bloody cheap, but it really does the business. For a fiver (nearest price to that is 15 quid!) you can't grumble! Hope that helps

can u unlock my cellphone for meusing ur mototools?
That Free Comic Day sound super cool, to bad I live in the US. Congrats on the German Edition!! You got got to be super hyped about that!! Sorry that you got sick I hope that you feel better now. :) That said I can't wait till the Vol. 3!
Hmm, too bad that the Finnish edition is apparently nothing to yay for...
The Dreaming has previously been virtually unknown in here even among manga fans, but getting into the magazine shelves of every single mall in the country should fix that quite effectively.
Love the work, keep it up till the end!
Thanks! :D Lovely to hear from you.
You don't know me but I saw you today at "Voices on the Coast" up on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. Your leture was amazing and informative. I guess I just wanted to say thank you for opening my eyes to the world behind the manga. Something that Jessica said, hit home. I use to draw cartoon characters but could never draw people. I started getting "how to draw anime/manga" books to learn, although I'm not a great drawer, what she said has given me a little hope.
I'm not good at question time, especially in a group of strangers. One question I wanted to ask was if you are a good illustrator (like a friend of mine) but not a good storyteller can you still get a job with TokyoPop? Or do they only hire people who can illustrate their own stories?
Hey thanks, and I was wondering whether I was boring the crap out of everyone too. :-) The lecture was fun, I had a good time talking. Thanks to everyone who was there!
As for your question, you CAN still get a job with TOKYOPOP if you're a good illustrator. Mostly this is restricted to inking and toning, though if you're a penciller you're expected to panel the pages so it may be a problem if you're not a great storyteller. I suggest you look on TOKYOPOP's site to see whether they have job openings for people who ONLY ink or tone.
Ofcourse, if you can illustrate your own story, it'll be fantastic, but it's rarer than you'll think. :-) If you're a writer, you can probably get them to find an artist for you if your story is compelling enough.
1 more question, if you don't mind. Now Manga's are sticking with tradition with reading right to left, when panelling, do employers prefer a right to left read or left to right read or doesn't it matter.
If you're drawing in English, then it should read from left-to-right.
The publisher should specify that. If not, go from left-to-right.
I know I'm late, i just got it this week!! And I totally love it! Not only does it satisfy my love for fouffy dresses and boarding schools, it totally creeped me out! You've got such a knack for horror, and it's so hard to do in comics!
Also.. I couldn't help but admire your backgrounds and settings, you must plan it all out ahead of time? Incredible. There was a couch/chair set I was really admiring.
The first book was good, and this one is even better! It answers just enough questions and leaves enough unanswered! Anyway enough gushing... gotta get back to work :D
Thanks, Becky!! Coming from you, that's a real compliment. :D As for the backgrounds and settings, no, I didn't really do that much planning beforehand. I DO try and make everything consistent though.
*I'm so high right now I can't get to sleep*
Well however you do it, it's amazing, and really makes me want to work on my backgrounds! haha I have a problam with consistancy sometimes... Anyway it's a great read!!! Seriously, it's one of my favorite books from TP right now.
Gorsh, that's very flattering too! *blush* But I don't think you have a problem with consistency at all... at least I didn't spot any in East Coast Rising. You draw the bestest sea monsters I have EVER seen, in comics, manga or elsewhere. :D

I'm sorry if this doesn't have anything to do with comics... | (Link)

... but I was just wondering, with the recent news of Capcom being the publisher of Chaos Code, has anything changed in the development of the game? Or do you not work there anymore?

WOAH?! I don't know anything about Capcom publishing Chaos Code - I thought it was Arc Systems? Arc Systems is the company that publishes Guilty Gear - I last worked at FKDigital in mid-April, and I haven't heard of any change of publisher. I was told that the game is in development for Japan only, and from the story development guys (all 100% Japanese Otaku), they made great pains to tailor the story to the Japanese market.
But in terms of the development of the game, no, I don't work there anymore, but the game graphics are ALL DONE (which is why I don't work there anymore). The bulk of the original work consists of the graphics anyway, because the game system itself already exists, and all there is to do is to slot in the characters and the stats, etc. They should be doing the testing and remaining programming work right now.
That said, the game graphics are banned from the Internet until the trailer is shown at the Tokyo Game Convention. That's what they told me when I was working there. But I better send an email to them to see what's going on. At least it can quash some rumours if the game Capcom publishing isn't "Chaos Code".

eh... so I guess my bluff was ineffective afterall. Sorry about that. Like you said, there are rumors that Code Chaos could be the new fighter Capcom announced and I figured I could clear this up by asking someone who worked on it. I'd be a little disapponted in Capcom if that were the case, as they would be riding on all the hardwork you guys put into the game as their triumphant return to the genre they helped establish, so if you could squash it I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks again.

Actually, there's no telling whether it's true or not at this stage. Though if it's not true, I'll definately let you know. Right now, it'll take a while to get in touch with the FKDigital guys, since it's a weekend. If I don't find out by next week, I may call them.

I've gotten a definate reply - Chaos Code is NOT related in any way to Capcom's new game. The FKDigital guys actually expected this rumour may happen, and they say that there is definately NO RELATION WHATSOEVER.
That said, Chaos Code is probably due for release in Xmas this year, or in Chinese New Year 2008. :D
