hey sorry to hear your editor had to bow out of your third book. But rest assured, Pauls a great editor (although super-overworked too).
Thanks for the tip, it's nice to hear a vote of confidence from another artist for Paul. :D And I hope your book's doing well - we're all looking forward to it!
Wow, congrats on finishing, though!!
Thanks, Tento! And guess what, I finally got around to buying Fool's Gold! Congrats on the book - I quite liked the story; it's definately got that "Pride and Prejudice" thing happening! XD My favourite characters are Blake and Katie, especially Katie because she reminds me of a Sri-Lankan high school friend of mine who's now married and living in Canada. It's sad... she's got dark skin, curly hair and is even more sweet-natured than Katie. And it's like... argh. :( Why did she have to move away?!
But anyway, great book and hope to see vol2 swing by soon (have you started on it yet?). The only crits I can think of are minor things. Just email moi if you want to hear them. :D
Hooray!!!!!!! I'm glad you liked it! Katie's based off a roommie I had in college, who's from Namibia!! Although I really didn't do her justice, because my friend also is much sweeter...and she's the most innocent girl I've ever met--it's hilarious! And she also just got married! But I actually moved away from her.
I only JUST finished thumbnailing--that was killing me, plus I went to a bajillion cons. But I hope to gain speed again now! And I think I'm going to be working on vol. 3 thumbnails simultaneously while I'm doing this book, since I get really lazy with them if I have a whole bunch to do. I really don't want such a huge lag between books!! And now I have like OTHER work peeking in to know if I'm available, and it's like AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!
But it's good :)
Haha if only I had your work ethic ;)
I'd love to hear your crits!!
congrats on finishing!!! i can certainly relate to a surprise accellerated deadline...those are the WORST. (and i haven't missed on yet, either.)
Thanks. :D And who dares to rip deadlines away from GoRaina?! But you must be a pretty good worker if you can keep it up - MY deadline almost killed me from the stress!! XD
Hey, congrats on finishing your book! I loved the first one and I can't wait to read the second! ^_^
Thanks Tania. :D I for one is looking forward to "Mangaka America" in November. Methinks the folks here in Australia will have enough sense to order it in so I can actually buy it in A STORE.
oh bloody hell - well done on getting it done with that much shaved off! I look forward to reading this as the last one was so gripping ^_^
Thanks. :D Hopefully the "shaved off" part won't happen to me again! XD It occurred because of a wrong estimation of the time required to get the book to the printer and to the shelves - it's meant to be 3 months, not 2. Yikes. Well, at least I now know. :D
Scary! But you really proved what you can do! ^_^
Wow!! #2 is gonna be SO worth the wait!
Thankyou! I hope everyone likes it too - it's certainly alot more story-driven this time round. :D Plot kicks into gear.
YAY! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I really enjoyed reading book 1, and I can't wait to get my hands on book two. :) :) :)
And I'm sorry to hear about you having to switch editors; it seems like there's been a lot of shuffling around the last few months, but hopefully it'll be for the better. :)
Thanks Rivkah. :D Yeah, there DOES seem to be alot of shuffling around - I thought it was because Rob left, but then it seems alot of the editors were overworked already, so I suppose it was just a matter of time. :D
Congrats on finishing your book! ^^
Yu Yu Hakusho is good. i remember being addicted to that series when i was in middle school... wait, now you can guess my age! XD
Anyway, i totally agree on the briliant character design. i think that was one of my first encounters with an acutal "bishonen" chara... as far as i can remember.
Also, i'd like to point out that numerous Yu-Haku spin-offs emerged after its success. *lol* (i.e. Flame of Recca)
Again, congrats on finishing book 2! i wish you much success on your new book!
Yea!! Another Yu Yu Hakusho fun!! I got into YYH in high school as well (I suspect you're the same age as me!), and I ALSO encountered my first actual "bishounen" character in that story too! XD Before that, I was used to tough-looking fighting men, and I was totally confused when I saw Kurama, to be honest! But ofcourse, he's one of my all-time fav characters. :P And while I've seen some of the YYH spin-offs (including Flame of Recca), I have to say that not show that followed in YYH's footsteps have been as good.
I'm gonna use the character designs of YYH as one of the centerpiece of my discussion about character designs.
Woah, congratulations on getting the book done...especially with getting so much time shaved off like that! Those insets look great! *eagerly awaits the second volume*
Thankyou! Now I have time to surf the net and post more on bulletin boards... yay! Hope you'll enjoy vol2... it's more plot-driven than vol1, but gives good headway on the story. :D
Oooo, very nice skele-mirror!
-Rikki
Those chapter pages are looking terrific! Can't wait to read vol 2. :D
Thankyou. :D I wish I had time to spend more time on the chapter pages, but hey, people don't seem to be complaining! XD

Queenie congratulation on completing book 2! Really can't wait to read it in November (must remember to preorder my copy).
Does this mean you'll be returning to the social scene and away from the confines of your own study now?
matt^
Squeeeee!!!! I will be one of the first to purchase book 2 - I loved the first one. Congratulations on finishing on time, too - as an aspiring artist, I know I wouldn't be able to do it.
And yes, Yu Yu Hakusho rocks. One of my favorite characters was Jin, the Wind Master. Too funny! I actually rewatched the series last month - well worth every penny!
Thanks for the message! :D And nice to see another YYH fan posting on the LJ - and Jin is a pretty fun character indeed. In the English dub, he has a cute Scottish accent, which was hilarious but totally suited his character!! If you haven't seen the English dub, perhaps you oughta!! XD

Dear queenie chan, I posted a comment to you and I don't know where it is. I remember at the bottom of your post it said about Naruto fanforums and then 'Ok, rant off' Can you direct me to it? |
